Visegrad 4+2
During 2001 Croatia was invited by Visegrad group (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland) to participate, together with Ukraine, in the project of developing map of regional ecological network for mentioned countries.
In the period of 2001-2003 Croatia had collaboration with Visegrad group of countries for the purpose of preparing the map of regional ecological network Visegrad 4+2. Through these activities the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning (MEPPP) and the consultant firm Oikon – Institute for applied ecology, under the guidance of the Committee for ecological network, have prepared the GIS map of preliminary ecological network of Croatia with corresponding database.
This database was used for the preparation of two maps presented at the Kiev Ministerial conference in May 2003: The Visegrad 4+2 maps of ecological network and protected areas.
